It’s ironic that so many companies embrace the hiring of off-shore workers to cut costs, yet feel their domestic workforce needs to be watched over like inmates.
On the other hand, corporate culture has not yet developed a viable infrastructure to support remote work, which sets up remote employees to fail. Email is a poor tool with respect to office socialization, and Skype has limits as well. We need a remote project management tool with training, social and cultural functions built in so one can truly feel like part of a team, whether in person or virtual. Get coding!
