Caitlin, your article is depressing and so it’s understandable that you would be depressed and eager to run away from the entire mess. But the simple fact is that the Constitution doesn’t allow you to run away from it. You can stay a Democrat, you can switch to being Republican, or you can not participate and we know what that does to our country. All the talk of starting new parties is wishful thinking as long as the Electoral College exists. Those parties can be formed, but they won’t go anywhere. The only way forward is the one Bernie has endorsed: replace the despitable deplorable elitist neoliberals who run the Democratic party. The way to do that isn’t DemExit, it’s #DemEnter. It means applying for a local committee seat in the Democratic Party and doing your best to make the party responsive locally (which is well-received by your fellow progressives, didja know?) And with that, comes the right to vote on party officers. And that’s the way to get the party back to serving progressives and working people. It means you must commit, not disconnect. It means you must be heard in a way that the system allows you to be heard.

Surprise: #DemEnter is making great progress. Join us.
