But you haven’t really compared scoring runs with a home run v scoring runs without a home run.
My questions would be:
Is there a way to compare the situation where somebody homers with runners on v. a team that has multiple runners on and never hit a home run? So, if you have runners on 2nd & 3rd, and one batter scores by a home run and the other gets a hit but is still on basis. What is the end result? Some times the hitter (now remaining base runner) doesn’t score, but other times he becomes the first scorer for the rest of an inning.
I’d also like to know what percentage of multiple run innings included a home run, and how often the home run was the final run of the rally, and what the number of runs scored in the same situations where a non-home run hit happened next.
