How To Do Something Amazing

The Daily Grind #77

Amazing is in the eye of the beholder and therefore it’s subjective, but amazing is still something that we can obtain. It’s like a standard like perfection, except this time it’s actually tangible and more realistic.

But what exactly makes something amazing? Especially in terms of our business.

I obviously don’t know what your version of amazing is, but mine comes down to some basic criteria.

It Needs To Be Authentic

Authenticity is a huge aspect of the world these days. There’s so many people faking it, or at least it seems to be. Authenticity isn’t just showing your life or behind the scenes stuff, it’s a matter of being genuine.

Even the idea should be something genuine as well. Something that YOU want to create and that YOU want to be doing.

A lot of people show off their crazy lifestyle and while that’s authenticity, I feel it’s still missing the mark for a number of reasons. It’s out of the ordinary for other people and the audience around them watching them.

That’s not to say we should show off or not celebrate, however with so many peoples newsfeeds showing off people at amazing places, travelling the world or doing whatever, I think it would be nice to have those scattered in between while making posts that genuinely connect people with their audiences.

At the end of the day, authenticity is you, but also you considering your audience to some degree. In business, that’ll be your customer. This is definitely important at the beginning, but not so much when you’re a big shot CEO.

It Needs To Be Innovative

The second and final criteria for me is another simple one on paper: innovative.

This means a level of creativity beyond what I have been used to creating. It’s a product of continuous practice and application, but also of thought.

Of course, ideas come to us suddenly and we have this bolt of inspiration that we simply have to push out into the world. Those are great. But they also require some level of thought.

Plan a little, move a lot.

That’s key to being innovative and executing something amazing into our lives.

And while so many things have been made, there’s still many ideas, thoughts, and theories that may not be common knowledge or could be spun in a different direction.

Like The Emoji Movie being the best movie of this year. (Some genuinely think it is. And no they’re not 5 years old)

Or perhaps the most badass animal in the world is the porcupine.

I don’t know. Kinda running out of ideas from the top of my head on this one.

But my point is being innovative to me is presenting something that is a bit different and yet has an air of familiarity to it. Some of us have heard of that trainwreck of a movie, and yet there are some avid fans. The same can be said for the porcupine as well.

Either way it would be interesting and innovative to hear peoples thoughts on it.

Even if you don’t agree, I think pairing up something that is outlandish while still being yourself is actually pretty amazing. It doesn’t need to be incredibly ballsy. As I mentioned above it could be a simple thought or opinion.

But at the end of the day, we all have that potential. So let’s get out there and make something amazing!

To your growth!
