Which One Are You? The Pilot Or The Passenger
In one of Jay Shetty’s video’s, he talks about a pilot and a passenger and talks about life and making decisions. He left us with a simple question:
Which one are you?
Are You A Passenger?
Are you someone who coasts through life? Someone who sits in a comfy chair, next to no responsibilities and takes it all in. All the while other people are steering.
You relax for so long that when you look out the window you realize you aren’t where you want to be. In fact you are completely lost as to where you are.
Or Are You A Pilot?
Someone who takes the wheel with your hands and steers your own life. Someone who understands where they are and where they’re going.
For me, I’m a pilot. I am someone steering my life the way I’d like to go. Even though I may not have complete control over myself, I am learning to handle it. After all there is bound to be some turbulence.
But there is a massive difference between these two positions in our lives.
The Difference Between The Two….
Is that in one case you are in control while the other you’re not. The passengers of life are people who are comfortable with where they are in life. Not to mention it’s very nice that you don’t have to do anything.
However over time, the passengers will start leading to complaining and even blaming other people. Blaming the circumstances of their lives or where they have ended up. They do this because they realize they aren’t going where they want to go.
Even though being comfortable is great, that way of living can be very restrictive in that sense.
How Do You Break Out Of This?
So how are you able to seize control of your life and steer the plane?
I believe the first thing is to have a plan and a vision. Sit down and decide what is your purpose in life.
Followed by setting goals that you can achieve. Set small goals that allow you to reach the bigger goals that you want in life.
Then surround yourself with the right kind of people who will push you forward, that will hold you responsible.
And above all, take action in achieving all of those things.
Over this week and next, I will be writing on those specifically, sharing tools and ways to approach those situations!
To your growth!
