Listening and learning about people’s aspirations and frustrations.
I believe this is so so so important.
Any manager or leader’s job is to find a way to bring people together, who have decided to dedicate half of their lives to your cause.
Management is a support role. It’s there to help the people who are on the front lines do their jobs better. To protect them, nurture them, and help them grow.
No, this doesn’t mean being ‘soft’ as some would call it.
It means working with everyone to help them produce the best, most important work they can.
And it starts by knowing what drives them, and what holds them back.
