I’ve experienced this directed at me in the past. I think the negativity comes from three main places:
- People think they’re better or superior than someone else
“What big projects have YOU worked on that make you superior?” - The redesign is something they’ve worked on, and they’re offended by someone thinking they’ve made some kind of mistake
“We had a reason for everything we did! How could you possibly think you could do better?!” - They’re just trolls
“I hate every time someone puts themselves out on a limb because I can’t do it myself.”
In all three cases, I think ignoring is the best response. I for one love to look at different perspectives on an established design.
One can only learn from others - why not embrace that opportunity?
