Popular Black News App, BLVCK, Acquired By The National Black Business Directory

The National Black Business Directory announced today that it has acquired BLVCK, the popular black news app that allows users to stay updated on news in the African American community from multiple sources at the tap of a button. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, but it is said to have been an all cash deal.

This will be the first of many acquisitions for the National Black Business Directory, or NBBD, as they continue their mission to “improve the economic and social status of the black community, while cultivating the culture through enlightenment and empowerment. Our vision is to become the official, online networking platform for Black Business Excellence.”, which is the companies mission statement.

The BLVCK app, which launched last July, has surpassed 10,000 downloads and hit #27 in the apple store News category only 2 days after it’s launch. The app featured many popular media companies such as BET, Blavity, Ebony Magazine, and more. The app also fostered discussions amongst the black community about hot new topics and allowed users to voice their opinions freely.

Nathan Dillard, the founder and CEO of NBBD, said that BLVCK was a natural fit into their product line and the users of the app were exactly the demographic they were looking to hit with their current service offerings. NBBD has already created strategic partnerships with $GUAP Coin, a black owned cryptocurrency, as well as Moxye, which is a black owned media company with over 500,000 monthly readers.

Eric Townsend, the founder and CEO of BLVCK, says that he has already been working on his next venture and that he is glad a company like NBBD saw the vision for BLVCK and has the resources to take it to new heights. “It’s hard to let it go, but I can’t wait to see what’s in the future for BLVCK under new leadership.”, stated Eric.

The BLVCK app will get a facelift in 2019, including new branding, new features and will be tightly correlated with NBBD’s media partnerships and mission. The mobile app is free on the Apple Store and will be coming to Android in 2019.
