Who can help you get that Dream Job?

Unemployed Tech Entrepreneurs have the biggest impact in helping job seekers.

Job Applications are a b*tch

Today, my friend Marshall text me that he’s applying for a consulting job at Deloitte, cause he dislikes his current gig. Marshall is really good at what he does, but hasn’t really been active on social tech. So, I felt that I need to get my friend’s back and tell him what I know.

In today’s world, your online presence matters as much as your resume.

My concern is that Marshall might not be aware of the big changes for resume standards that hiring managers have.

Only Tech Entrepreneurs can give you an Edge

“People in the trenches are usually in touch with impending changes early” — Andrew S. Grove, Only the Paranoid Survive

People in the trenches are the startup founders (unemployed) in technology. The ones grinding it out building something with meaningful social impact.

We are knee deep in cutting-edge technology which concerns the nature of society. Thus, we’ve developed a special insight on where things are headed.

We knew resume standards would change before the news

Two years ago, I was trying to warn the few friends that I have of this impending change for job application. I was even blogging about it for a past startup of mine called MyBartender.is.

A year ago, a female friend (only friends! sheesh), Crystal Hovermale, emailed me on Facebook last year asking for resume help. I’m like…

“Girl, that piece of paper ain’t gonna do anything for you.”

Cause da Resume review profession industry just got disrupted…GG!
I call Thai Pads…”Pad Thais”. GG
The Personal Website is the new Resume

We can build all the sh*t that’s needed for job applicants

I am a swell guy by offering to build a website for my buddy Crystal.

I felt that a personal website was going to be standard requirement for all job seekers in the next 10 years. In the beginning, applicants will be able to get away with a shitty website built on something like a Wix or a free theme. But, as the mass markets catch on….it will get competitive.

I foresee that 9–5 job seekers will have to invest in professional Web Design and Development by the experts. The better the design and coding of the website…the greater the job applicant’s competitive edge.

Did I build the website for my buddy Crystal?

The SEXY launch page I made in preparation to build my friend’s website

I did build my friend a launch page that would be up during the web development process. But, I never went through with the web development of her personal site. Because, I felt that she wasn’t really committed to applying to jobs, and she was just all talk. She didn’t appreciate that a website is HUGE deal. Also, my gut instinct was telling me that her circle of friends were assuming that I had ulterior motives in doing free web development for Crystal. The motive of trying to gain visibility of my consultancy through her network.

However, I’ve helped other friends and people in need. Last year, I build a crowdfunding platform for a guy that was severely injured in a car accident.

Helping Friends has drawbacks

Sometimes people think you have ulterior motive. Ya, it’s lame. I think this occurs mainly with insecure people, and aren’t really your true friends.

I believe the reason to be is because I am INFP/ENTP in the field of entrepreneurship.

Both make up a small percentage of the population and have very different core beliefs than the majority. Such as, entrepreneurs believe in always providing value to the social ecosystem.

The reason I want to help my friends get their job is because, IT IS FUCKING FUN!

I see this trend that is forming, and I have a hunch. A theory. I want to test my theory to improve and better my skill-sets. So this process of self-improvement and also helping friends is very rewarding. At least for INFPs and those in entrepreneurship.
