Great article, nice to have it out there that this movement is growing legs.

Funny though, isn’t it, that access to this sort of experiential learning is far more available in the private and charter schools, when the very notion of vocational education (basically “making” with a clear direction towards preparation for a craft or industry-based job) was so long the opposite of what private schooling embraced.

Just like the way in which peasant food and soul food found their way into upscale cuisine, leaving the originators to the ravages of junk food.

Or having a natural suntan identified people as field workers while the elite went to pains to stay pasty white, and now the leisure class spends its free time bronzing while the workers are sickly pale from indoor jobs in front of computer screens.

Ah, people.
