Every once and awhile, I try to give some organizations the benefit of the doubt. I don’t read Gen because it usually publishes acidic garbage in the form of an echo chamber. I think some of their articles damn near cross the border of hate speech. I decided to give it a chance again and I see why I don’t read it.
The reason why a number of people are at each other’s throats in this country is because publications like Gen spit in the face of half the country. Then they seemed stunned why they get flack in return.
If you wanted to write an article about being in too many wars, or in places we shouldn’t be for too long, you’d get a lot of people to agree with you. Maybe you could have built off of that. But, as a writer from Deadspin, you couldn’t resist jamming a stick into half the country’s eyes. There’a a reason why that publication closed, although you’d never understand why.
You should do yourself a favor and talk to people who disagree with you. I read works on Medium that disagree with me constantly. It’s shoved in my face nonstop. Many do it more artfully than this pub and it’s a shame Medium promotes this acidic garbage. If they wanted to push political agendas, they could promote the work of writers that aren’t bomb throwers.
Drew, everyone who disagrees with you isn’t a racist, although that may be hard for you to believe. I could easily call you a communist or an ayatollah supporter. but I won’t. I’ll just call you terribly wrong and a horrible communicator.
It you wanted to win people over with your piece, you’ve done a piss poor job. The echo chamber may applaud this, but there are a number that will only see this as a typical insult from a sheltered person who doesn't’ understand them.
If you just wanted to poke people in the eye, ask yourself why? What’s that get you? Claps? Pats on the back? It just makes you another loud voice in a screaming match that goes nowhere. You could have done something much different with this piece, much better.
