Club America is currently undefeated with four victories and five draws in the Liga MX Clausura 2018.

With 17 points Club America find themselves on top of the leaderboard and look to maintain on top with squad rotation.

In the last couple of seasons America was lacking is depth in their squad. Their last championship won was the 2016 Champions League but most America fans care for the league championship which they have not won since the Apertura 2014.

Depth in the squad is what America need in order to compete with the teams of the north like Monterrey and Tigres.

The coaches Antonio Mohamed (Monterrey) and Ricardo Ferretti (Tigres) have the ability to look to their bench and have a player that could be the solution to the teams problem on the pitch.

This season America acquired Joe Corona, Emanuel Aguilera, and Henry Martin in the Clausura 2018 draft. These transfers were questioned because America let go of their best central defender Pablo Aguilar.

America also acquired France international Jeremy Menez and Columbian Andrés Ibargüen. The five new faces added to the club have given coach Miguel Herrera choices on the bench.

Being the biggest club in Mexico comes with major responsibilities such as winning every tournament in the teams path.

Competing in the Liga MX and Concacaf Champions League could be tiring on the starting 11 players. Therefore, Miguel Herrera’s squad rotation is a great idea to keep the players fresh and in top form.

The squad rotation would increase a player’s performance because they could be included in the starting 11 at any given time or needed to come off the the bench at any given moment.

With the squad rotation it will allow Club America’s promising young talent Diego Lainez to continue his player development with the teams under-20 team rather than speeding up his player development process that does not need to be rushed.

Although many players may not like the squad rotation, because as a professional athlete you always want to be on the pitch, the players must understand that the rotation is for the well-being of the team.

Club America is always a contender for the championship but now even more so with the addition of the new players and the squad rotation keeping the players in top form.

America have a chance to show their dominance this weekend when facing their ultimate rivals Chivas de Guadalajara in ‘El Clásico Nacional’ on Saturday.
