A Real Fitness Education
For as long as I can remember I have always thought humans aren’t fulfilling their overall potential. I think there are some people who perform beyond their believed potential but most people are well below what they are capable of. When I was younger I used to believe that was because people didn’t have the right information. Now I believe it is because people have too much information.
Also to be clear potential is a word that can encompass quite a bit. You can have terrible health and fitness yet fulfill your career potential. Or perhaps you have the perfect 6 pack but no money in your bank account. Perhaps you are a great artist and a terrible friend and spouse to those you care about. When I speak of potential I mean really becoming the best version of yourself in all aspects.
I think we all have a lot of room to grow and improve. I live by the philosophy of kaizen, which means constant improvement. However to be clear I know that you just can’t keep moving forward in most things in life. Progress tends to be a squiggly line and not a straight line in most circumstances. That is because so many things require other people or other factors.
However there are some things that are pretty direct and matter of fact. I think those are the things in our direct control. What we eat, how we exercise, where we work, how much we sleep, the drugs we do or don’t do, the relationships we maintain, the information we focus on, and this list can continue.
That is what I try to get people to focus on. The things they can actually control. This is what I look to teach people. I don’t think there is a one size fits all health and fitness philosophy, as I think each and every person will have their own unique physical and mental requirements. That said, I do believe that most people will have very similar philosophies if theirs are grounded in reality. We really aren’t that much different.
Ever look at all of the different cars out there? I bet there are thousands of different cars. Some that are beat up and rusted, while others that are new and shiny. Some slow, some fast. All kinds of different colors and shapes. But all of them have 4 wheels, a steering wheel, a gas pedal, and brakes (I hope so at least). Point is that despite all of the differences they are all pretty much alike. Think about this too, when people get the latest, greatest car on the market they will tell you about the features it has, it’s performance on a race track, and it’s acceleration from 0 -60. However if they are in normal cities, they will go about 30–45 miles per hour like the old clunker that only cost $2,000 at the used car lot.
Humans are very alike. We have a set of needs that isn’t too complicated and despite all of the “advances” in exercise science and nutrition, we are probably the least healthy and fit as a species as we have ever been. We have sold out to pills, gimmicks, and all of the fitness gods and gurus who usually don’t practice what they preach with true authenticity. Many people tell you about the diet they don’t follow, or the training protocol they don’t do. Or perhaps they leave out the list of PEDs they take to compensate. Not saying the whole industry is disingenuous but many people are.
I’m convinced that if given the right information people can make the right choices. I have made it my clear cut goal in life to help as many people as possible to get the right base of information so that they can get on a path that will take them to their goals. This information is multi faceted and covers a wide range of topics including nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, micro and macronutrients, biomechanics, postural training, core conditioning, human gait, movement, farming, cooking, meditation, visualization, sleeping, and a whole host of other topics.
I look forward to helping people achieving their health and fitness potential through a variety of avenues including online, in my gym, and seminars. I hope that all of you reading already have the info you need to get to where you want to go. If not I encourage you to come take one of my seminars or do some privates and get the info you need to succeed!
