Perhaps cynicism is an unpleasant way of saying the truth — but it needs to be said. And not a lot of people are willing to say it. As for generalizations, statistically speaking, I wasn’t off. The internet is swarmed with too many feel-good articles that dance around the truth and cater to the fashionable sentiments of the day. I’m not one. Never will be. A writer, in the words of the great Henry Miller, “is to revive the primitive, anarchic instincts which have been sacrificed for the illusion of living in comfort…” That’s what I try to do.
