List comprehensions are easier to read (they almost read like regular English), so I would definitely use them if you can. I’m all for readable code. On the other hand, map() is very compact. So it’s also a matter of taste.
I’m not entirely sure about this, but I think you’re confusing tags with topics. For example, if your story has enough reads, you’ll see what other topics your readers are interested in. Also, I think you can only be a top writer in a topic, not for a tag (?)
You obviously put in a lot of effort to write this. It’s a great read with useful illustrations and for beginners a nice introduction to the world of unix / linux. I agree with you that it’s worth the time to truly understand these things, since it makes all the other stuff you’ll be doing in your future career so much easier and less ‘voodoo’.
I’ve been using Pi Hole for a year now. It works the same. It blocks all trackers and ads, even those from my TV, gaming consoles, phones, and tablets. In addition I installed a VPN server, so I can use my home network, including ad blocker, from anywhere in the world.
Ouch that sounds frustrating. Sometimes if you have lots of software installed or you have drivers installed that didn’t come with the OS I can get harder to get everything working.
