“ I will not go into the religious aspects of marriage since they are not relevant to the discussion.”
And yet, this whole issue is about religion, and the enforcement of religious orthodoxy. The reality is that you cannot ‘go into the religious aspects’ without demonstrating that conservatives are indeed forcing their religious views onto the rest of society.
And if you attempted to use those religious aspects, it is easy enough to show that the Bible does not support conservative/fundamentalist/right-wing theology.
Your diversionary tactic regarding ‘since the dawn of time’ is a waste of time — same-sex marriage is ancient, there is evidence of a same-sex male couple from early Pharonic Egypt. Marriage is not a requirement for reproduction, nor to sane people is reproduction a requirement for marriage. Your word salad accomplishes nothing.
Your post reflects a deep ignorance about marriage history, the variety of forms it has taken.
“ Through the ages, nuclear families have statistically achieved the greatest success in this area”.
Prove it. You offer no proof for any of your claims, and this one is particularly bizarre, considering that the ‘nuclear family’ is a relatively new model.
“ Still, if you put full equality to a homosexual marriage over a heterosexual marriage,”
Nice strawman, one of a several you’ve employed. But it is not about putting same-sex marriage over mixed-sex marriage, but equal too. The desire to be ‘over’ is on the side of irrational bigots defending mixed-sex marriage.
