Random Thought Round Up

I haven’t really been feeling inspired to write about anything lately, but it was one of my 2016 to goals to post once a week. So just to clear my head, here’s a dump of everything I’ve been ruminating on lately:

  • I’ve been consistently writing in my gratitude journal since February 11 and I do think it’s helped with my attitude. I’ve been dealing with a lot of stupid bullshit at work and I’ve been trying to very consciously move my thoughts away from anger / resentment / irritation and focus on the good. I think it’s actually working but it is HARD. Trying to change that default setting is WORK, ya’ll.
  • I finished reading Noonday Demon. It’s definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read, really beautifully written and full of hope. I want to do a post for each of its chapters — when I write about something I remember and synthesize the information better and I want to be able to refer back to my summary points later. I’ll be keeping that book forever.
  • I’ve really got to get my eating in check. I’ve been feeling sick for a while now and I rationally know if I cut the carbs and eat more protein / fat I won’t deal with the high blood sugar as much. I just gotta do it.
  • I need to use my CGM again. I took a break when my pump died and my blood sugar has suffered. I love not having something connected to me, but it’s time to go back.
  • I’m going to an event at the DBG where they help you come up with ideas for your back yard. I want ES to help me draw it in Sketchup and I’ve decided I want the following elements: built in BBQ, extend the patio with pavers, a vegetable garden box, comfortable patio lounge furniture, lots of succulents, grasses and flowering plants. I found plans for the built in BBQ that say it would take two weekends. Not sure when we want to start on that…
  • I’d like to finish KonMari-ing the house. I still need to finish the bathroom, kitchen and papers / art supplies.
  • Pending projects: shelves for shed, move tools from old shed to new, move old shed to Frances’ and Gail’s house, fix fence between Tracy & Aaron’s house, take door of master closet, hang curtain over master closet, style master bath, craigslist items
  • My mom is coming over this weekend to help me plant a vegetable garden. ES helped me till and weed yesterday and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m still fighting the aphids on my roses and just read that they love tomatoes, too. Ugh, aphids!! You little assholes are the bane of my existence :/
  • My entire March calendar is filled up already. I’m going to try to have a weekend in April with NOTHING planned. March has the New Pathways open house, SAMA Street Fair, Heart Walk, New Pathways for Youth Charity Breakfast and an issue of the neighborhood newsletter. 2016 has been nuts so far, but I’m enjoying it (mostly).
