A list of Gratitude

How would we ever get through our days if we weren’t thankful for what we have in this world? My mother keeps reminding me to be grateful for things in my life and to recognize what those things are. So that brings me to my list. I wanted to write about some of the many things I am grateful for in my life.

My horse

I am grateful to have my horse, Eli. Eli is like my child. I’ve had Eli since December 2012 and we have been through so much together. Along with lots of help from my trainers at the time, I taught Eli to jump properly and ride on the flat like a dressage horse. We have been to many shows together and we have made many memories together. I could not ask for a better horse for me.

My dog

My goodness do I love my dog. He is my world. Sven is not only my emotional support animal, but he is also one of my best friends. I know he will always be there for me when I need him. He sleeps in my bed with me, he helps my depression and anxiety, and he reminds me that I need to take care of myself.

My mother

I am grateful for this superwoman of a human that I get to call my mom. She has always supported me even when I kept secrets from her or didn’t tell her the whole truth. She is my number one fan! I love her dearly even though it might not seem like it at times. I will always be thankful for the years she spent driving me places that I needed to go, and the money she has spent on me in order to make sure I had what I needed.

My dad

Even though he is no longer with us, I will always be thankful for having such a strong and brilliant father figure in my life. My dad taught me things that I wouldn’t have learned on my own, whether those things be practical skills or life lessons. He was always there for me even when I pushed him away. My dad was so supportive of me and all my activities p, especially when it came to horse showing. I will never forget how he bought and fixed up a horse trailer for me to use for shows. I love you, dad.

My tattoos

I am grateful for my tattoos because they help me feel more comfortable and more beautiful in my own skin. Each tattoo has a story, and each one makes me feel stronger and more empowered. I like being able to share these stories with the rest of the world.

My recovery

Without my recovery, I have nothing. Recovery is meant to save lives, and it is certainly saving mine. I do not know where I would be had I not decided to recover from my eating disorder and other mental ailments. Recovery allows me to spend time with my horse, dog, and loved ones.

A list of other miscellaneous things I am currently thankful for:

  • Sea breezes
  • Toilet paper
  • My ability to draw and do art
  • Therapy
  • Pens and pencils
  • Sweatshirts
  • Leggings and yoga pants
  • Thai food
  • My professors
  • My ability to attend college
  • Eye makeup
  • Mother Nature
  • Bagels with peanut butter
  • Wifi
  • Books
  • Technology
  • Air conditioning
  • Prescription drugs
  • My friends
