Every Book I’ve Read Since the Election

I resolved to stop reading books by white dudes for all of 2016 (because I historically have read a ton of dystopian sci fi and that’s almost all white dudes) and have really enjoyed and would highly recommend these books:

  1. Half a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
  2. The Orenda by Joseph Boyden (or Through Black Spruce by Joseph Boyden…. or really anything by Joseph Boyden)
  3. The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
  4. Anything written by Thomas King

2 and 4 are perhaps maybe more Canadian specific recommendations (though I find Boyden’s writing in particular to be so captivating) and deal with indigenous culture/issues. I’ve been meaning to check out Elena Ferrante though!
