I think part of the point of this article is that it’s okay to not engage in the hard work of personal growth 100% of the time. I see a lot of messages in activist spaces that imply that if a (white) person isn’t 100% pure and constantly examining themselves, they’re not welcome and they’re not only doing it wrong, they’re being bad, selfish people. I understand this ideal, and it may work for some people, but it’s not going to be sustainable most of the time for most people. We all need breaks.
