Thank you for articulating so beautifully why the ‘I’m so fat but you’re so pretty’ dichotomy never ever feels good to the person receiving that ‘compliment’. People fight hard to retain their right to publicly state their own minute flaws, and argue ferociously that of course they don’t mean you, too, you’re beautiful (even though your ‘flaws’ are theirs x 10), why can’t you just accept that?? This is why. I feel like I want this in pamphlet form to distribute during those repeated arguments. Thank you!!
