Look Around You

You’re having a bad day, or a good one, or the kind of great day that you look back on for the rest of your life.

You’re moving through space, feeling your feelings, experiencing your experiences, knowing the world through your own history, your own thoughts.

Take a second, a minute, an hour. Look around you. Breathe a deep breath and look at the people around you. Hurrying about their lives just like you. Moving through space, feeling their feelings, experiencing their experiences. All of them a complete mystery to you. Even those you have known for years. All of them having a bad day, or a good one, or the kind of great day that they will look back on for the rest of their lives.

What is the feeling of this moment? What is the smell, the sounds, the sights, the temperature? What is the unique beauty of this second, this minute, this hour?

Look around you, breathe. Look again.

This may be the moment that changes the course of your life. Or you may be the unnoticed background in the moment that changes the course of someone else’s. Heck, you are possibly both.

The love of your life may one day share the memory of this moment. Or perhaps your greatest betrayer.

But for now, just breathe. Look around you and breathe.

Because sometimes, that’s all you can do.

You’ve Got This. I Believe in You,
Erin
