Marketing automation has been around for a very long time, at least since the early 90’s. And even though most of our meetup members are seasoned marketeers, last month we had the opportunity to learn more about this topic with Jennica Arvonen and Joonas Rinne from Valve in their session “Deep Dive into Marketing Automation”. Here’s a summary of what surprised me the most:

1. You may not need marketing automation

Just because marketing automation seems trendy and everyone else does it, it does not mean it is right for you. Investing in marketing automation…

Since 2009 GENIVI has been driving the adoption of open source software for the connected car. The last 10 years have been incredibly successful for the GENIVI Alliance and the automotive open source community. Initially focused on Linux-based IVI and automotive open source software, GENIVI is expanding its scope to become the leading platform driving the efforts for the integration of the multiple operating systems that are present in the centralized and connected cockpit.

We wrote about ECU consolidation in the past, but which other trends are currently being discussed in the automotive industry? …

*This content is part of a research paper I wrote for the Service Research Seminar course at Aalto University

Abstract In computer science and engineering, the service orientation paradigm does not contemplate software as a product anymore, but as a service that is divided into smaller pieces that solve different concerns, as in a distributed system. Service orientation pursues the automation of business logic, which can bring several benefits to companies, for instance more agility and scalability, lower costs and interoperability. Thus, the topic is of great interest not only for IT and software companies, but also for academia…

Next week (24.01.2018) I am going to be attending @graduateland ’s Virtual Career Fair to talk about Tuxera; the place I work at. I’ll be there with Satu Muilu and @debbie_tux, some of my colleagues. I am hoping to chat with as many people as possible in 2–3 hours! But in case I don’t have time to answer to all of you, and inspired by this post https://uxplanet.org/learn-ux-research-methods-with-gifs-875209a83b12, I made a small guide about what it is like to work at Tuxera, in GIFs. …

My reflection and few tips from this 6-month mentorship program

For the past 6 months I’ve had the opportunity to participate in Girls in Tech mentoring program as a mentor of a freshly service design graduate. While I’ve been getting my feet wet with teaching and informally coaching in the past few years (I like to help people whenever I can), I am far from an expert in my field, let alone in social and life skills. …

As part of a maker-culture track, I’ve been recently invited to speak at Suomi Areena (Finnish largest public debate forum) about developer communities and share my experience at Android Aalto. While I mostly talked about my journey at Android Aalto and how it once became the largest community of developers in the Nordics, I also interact in one way or another with many other communities in my area, thus I decided to take some time to reflect on the role these communities have had in my professional and also personal life and write this text.

My beginnings in Android Aalto

A crash course in empathy, communication and bias towards action

It was September 2012. I was sitting shy in a lecture in which a bunch of selected students (yes, we actually were the chosen ones) were supposed to introduce to each other in Pecha Kucha style (20 pictures, 20 seconds each). Little did I know at the time that I was about to embark in a journey that would fundamentally shape the way I understand and interact with the world. That lecture was the kickoff of ME310, a year-long project-based design engineering course that first started at Stanford University over 40 years ago. Unlike most other design and engineering courses…
