Gaining wisdom in bits and pieces

I believe inspirational quotes can change people for the better.

Quotes. Yes, this post is about quotes. We all love them (at least the most of us), they’re great for when were down or for when we are looking for inspiration. We love to share them, probably because for some reason sharing wisdom makes us feel smarter, just check your Facebook feed to see what I’m talking about. But behind all the un-tiredly and sometimes ambiguous use of quotes, there usually is a lot of wisdom in each phrase. The reason for this is quite obvious, they are said by the greatest people throughout history, these people take their experience and find a smart, understandable way of putting it in words that just seem to click in our head when we read or hear them, making us nod in concordance as if somehow we already understood or knew what the quote is trying to tell us!

Quotes are quite powerful. The right inspirational words could be just what someone needs when they are on the verge of a breakthrough in whatever they’re working on. Some words can bring reason to those with un-reasonable point of views, they can inspire us at any moment and they can make us realize what we hadn’t realized before, all in all they can teach countless life lessons that other people have learned the hard way, through good old experience.

I honestly think quotes can change people for the better. This might sound a bit cheesy but a speech that came from a movie really helped me through a time in which as a teenager I thought was depression. I was sad, and the worst part about it was that I was sad about nothing. I just felt that there weren’t many things important to me, and that everything I did really was pointless in the end. And then as I was watching the movie Rocky Balboa (2006), some of the things Rocky spoke to his son during the motivational speech, a highlight of the movie, just struck me, they became very inspiring phrases and changed my mindset in a positive direction. Of course those words didn’t solve my problems, only time could and did, but they definitely helped me, they made me realize I was wrong and that I just had to change. I was victim of the positive power of a couple of sentences, Dale Carnegie said it best,

“Happiness doesn’t depend on any external conditions, it is governed by our mental attitude”.

And we can strengthen our mental attitude by feeding our mind with wise thoughts! I’m not the only person who has been inspired by Rocky’s speech, there are thousands of other people who agree with me, and like Rocky’s speech, there are plenty of others. There is a ton of wisdom in books, in movies, in songs and on the internet waiting to be discovered. And I believe that if we gained more wisdom in bits and pieces, day by day we would all grow as better people and if this does happen, the world is bound to change positively, it doesn’t really matter how small the change is.

And what’s the whole point of this post anyway? Well you see blogging seemed like a great way for a little project I’ve been working on to get of the ground and start inspiring others, if you’ve read the post up till now, I think you might find QuoteGiants.com enjoyable. It’s a great place to read a few words of inspiration or for sharing some yourself. There are plenty of quote sites, but most of them are not very easy on the eye and QuoteGiants offers a better way to discover wisdom. So go ahead, get inspired by what others have said, inspire others with what you have to say.
