Global wind power will grow by 1.9 TW between 2023–2033
Market research consultancy Brinckmann expects approximately 1.9 terawatts (TW) of wind power capacity to be added globally between 2023 and 2033.
According to the IRENA database, the installed capacity of global wind energy in 2022 amounted to 899 GW.
Brinckmann predicts that about 130 GW of new onshore and offshore wind farms will be installed in 2023, most of which will be built in the Asia-Pacific region.
In the period 2023–2033. the annual market growth will average 6%, and for 2033 analysts predict the commissioning of about 230 GW, two-thirds of which will be represented by onshore wind farms.
Growth drivers for global wind power, such as strong policy support, the US Inflation Reduction Act, China and EU decarbonization strategies, new countries entering the offshore wind market, and demand for green hydrogen, will outweigh limiting factors and barriers.
Among the challenges facing the industry are project financing difficulties, complex permit procedures, and profitability problems for wind turbine manufacturers.
