intangible
A Sunday Without God drabble. Alice x Ai because dammit do you know how hard I ship them both.
“I want to save your world, even if the whole world is against it!”
Her voice, filled with determination and curiously, sadness still rung clearly inside the redhead’s head. He could still recount every moment when his twisted world was vanishing after he and Ai figured out the secret of the Reset that happened every 28th July, how he caught the petite girl in his arms.
“I want to save you…” between her brimming tears, Alice could still remember how the wailing girl called for his name — and he smiled as he held her close, the fondness filled his heart with warmth. At least, at his dying breaths — there was someone he could hold onto, there was someone tangible so he could hold on.
But she had to live. The young gravekeeper had to live on. Alice struggled, over the days they spent together, though short, had sparked in his heart fondness and affection towards the petite blond. He wanted to keep her. He knew it was selfish, but for at least once, he wanted to be selfish. At the same time, he knew he couldn’t keep her. She had to go before the portal that connected his world to the outside world closed and his world vanished.
So Alice then lowered his head, and softly brushed his lips against her forehead. Ai, in shock, looked at Alice and as his amethysts gentled, shimmering with fondness, the redhead pushed her away.
“Farewell.”
Alice, however, found himself alive and well at the outside world. Ai’s wish as the Observer was so strong that her wish altered all the timeline where he died, and brought him back to the living world. As Ai and Alice stared at the tombstone inscribed with his name, Alice closed his eyes.
“How did you do that again…”
Ai didn’t respond, but instead answered him with a smile.
In the present moment, Alice noticed the Observer had fallen asleep, her head on his shoulder as they headed to discover cities beyond the City of Dead, Ortus. The atmosphere inside the van was very quiet as both Scar, Celica and Ai had fallen asleep while Dee closed her eyes. Although she’s practically a ghost and didn’t need sleep, Alice figured out that Dee wanted to feel like a human again so he didn’t pay her heed.
“Alice,”
The redhead was startled when he heard a very soft whisper escaped Ai’s lips, calling him. His amethysts widened in shock, however they soon gentled and glittering with fondness, he patted her head.
“I’m here.”
