The countdown button was flashing overhead, bringing the only colour to the grey room. Even my colleagues were dressed in shades of grey, blending into their cubicles, hunched over computer screens. It was soon time. A figure draped itself over the cubicle wall, nearly dislodging precariously placed memos and reminders. Amos grinned. “Are you all set?”
“Pretty much. I’ve double-checked the code, everything should start working as planned.”
“I wonder what they’ll think of it?”
“Who? Oh the users? They’ll probably run around in circles like they’re chickens. Wouldn’t you?”
Amos shrugged. “I’m not one for social media. But my ma, she is, and she would. Do you…”
He paused, looking around, checking to see if anyone was listening. He leaned in closer. “Can you check which side she’s on? My ma. I don’t want her on the wrong one, you know.”
“You know I can’t do that. The boss will have me fired if he thinks I’m doing favourites. You’d be best getting her to shut her account down, or go to one of the new sites. Unless, you know.”
