Mind the Gap: Women in Tech

I recently retired after 40 years in tech, and have experienced a great many things. For every instance she gives of what a woman has to experience, I can replace ‘woman’ with ‘man’ and still have a truthful statement. Women in tech don’t own having a boss that is disrespectful, or having to change a behavior pattern to fit in, or be passed up for a promotion, or see favoritism practiced towards a coworker, or even be harassed. Women who succeed in tech do have to be lucky. But so do men who succeed in tech. The workplace is a lot more gender neutral than the author notes. Personal responsibility in the workplace is not something that women own. The author’s last 2 paragraphs are excellent summaries of the tech field. But to get to them, the reader has to read thru unsubstantiated assertions that are simply incorrect and one-sided
