These artworks of the first generation are so important for the history of Kyrgyzstan and they can be called classical. This painting is the most popular among Kyrgyz people. The portrait represented not only Kyrgyzstan at several international exhibitions but also the whole Soviet Union.

The prototype of the girl was Aimzhamal Ogobaeva, she was from the Orto-Sai village. Chuikov regularly visited her until the end of his days and called her a daughter. The original work is stored in State Tretyakov Gallery. The artist made a сopy in 1950 however. Vladimir Obraztsov. “Back from the Red Army”, 1930

The contrast of red and green and bright transition from cold to warm colors — this is how Vladimir Obraztsov demonstrated his talent. We can see the wonderful mountain landscape and happy faces of rural people, who smile to the man in military clothes. This work of art stands out from a number of paintings by other artists of that time.

Mukhtar Mukambetov. “Blue Windows”, 1980

Mukhtar Mukambetov loved to portray household moments and everyday routine. He demonstrated the cleaning of a new apartment on this painting. The mood of the picture is dramatic and playful because of the color palette on the canvas.

Abdrai Osmonov. “Dolon”, 1974

Abdrai Osmonov is one of the few artists of his generation who remained loyal to academic principles in the construction of paintings. He works, mostly,in the genre of a thematic picture and portrait.

His most popular painting shows the work of road builders and drivers in a fierce cold on a high and snowy mountain pass. Black and white color is not only the real color of the mountains in winter, but also the mood of courage of people that are portrayed in this picture.

These pieces of art was made to capture the present, but nowadays, they are witnesses of the past. Many years later, we can call these paintings iconic and understand the importance of their historical context.
