I’m in an awful situation regarding these insurances. I’m trying to take my partner and daughter with me to Germany. And all could go wrong simply because of the health insurance issues. Here in Germany I’m a freelance English teacher and I’m a European citizen. My daughter is a EU citizen as well, but my wife is Russian.

Krankenkassen constantly refuse me as a freelancer because I was privately insured in my home country before and I missed half a year of insurance as I was in Russia, being state insured. Apparently this is the Krankenkasse policy for voluntary membership.

My only hope was to have an ALC or care concept. (ALC seems better after a thorough comparison) But what I read here is that they tightened it up as well. I simply can’t afford 900E for health insurance.

What is wrong in this country with the health insurances?? 1. they have the worst bureaucracy for state insurance, then when you look for a private they restricted it so badly, that only the rich can afford it. This is simply a scam of basic human rights!
