“No, no, no, no,” James Kelly flicked through the photographs of potentials.

“See this one, Suzy, this one, not bad huh?”

Suzy looked at the black and white shot of a young woman, gazing adoringly into the camera.

The dark office stank of cigar smoke and a fine haze was noticeable in the light of the window.

“Eliza Laurie, eighteen, Arizona,” she said in between sips of coffee. “Not bad.”

“Not bad?” Kelly puffed on a cigar, “young, good looking, she’d need to look older, but we could do that. We could pair her with Hank.”

Suzy stretched out on a chaise and rubbed the soles of her feet, her shoes were killing her, step by step. Not that Kelly would mind her making herself at home, hell, they were practically a married couple anyway, even Kelly’s wife had said so.

“Hank is too old for her,” Suzy said lighting a cigarette between her teeth. “Try Steve.”

Kelly flicked cigar ash onto the photographs resting on the table.

“Steve has no talent.”

“Your point?” Suzy snapped.

Kelly looked again at the photograph of the kid from Arizona. “She’s untested, might not be too talented herself. A pairing with Steve might mean two…
