I have type one and I have an older model of the minimed (pre-2015) and I just got the Dexcom G6. This is definitely something serious to consider, I have never had any issue waking up in the middle of the night with a low blood sugar, but can I really trust that to last? All it takes is not waking up once, and that scares me beyond reason. I tell people jokingly (rather darkly though) that we’re all dying, but I’m just dying a little faster, but this statistic that diabetics under 40 are TWICE as likely to die really brings that into perspective. I knew the risks were high but thats a real number which means people just like me, living their lives have thought everything was fine, and they never woke up. I will definitely look more into OpenAPS to see if it is for me, and I urge all other diabetics, especially younger type one’s like me to do the same.
