Electropop artist Jessy Lanza comes to Hasselt

Since her debut “Pull my hair back” along with her fellow native Jeremy Greenspan, this girl from Hamilton (Ontario, Canada) has not stopped surprising the audience with musical experiments. Now, thanks to her latest hit “Oh no”, Jessy Lanza visits Hasselt (Belgium) to spread optimism and new sounds.

Lanza plays different instruments during her concerts.

Jessy Lanza knew since childhood that she wanted to pursue the music career. Therefore, she earned a music degree in Montreal (Quebec’s Concordia University) and later a master’s degree in musicology at McGill which she did not finish.
Her career took its first steps with Jeremy Greenspan and his recordings for Junior Boys.

Thanks to the great connection between the two, Lanza managed to launch in September 2013 “Pull my hair back”, her album debut with the labelof Hyperdub.
Meanwhile, she continued with great collaborations with Caribou, Morgan Geist, DJ Spinn …

Thanks to these works, Jessy Lanza is now known as R&B-inspired vocalist, producer and songwriter.

For this year, Jessy Lanza has decided to reinvent herself with her new album “Oh no”. This CD is more energetic than the previous one but does not lose the essence of the artist. We can find inspiration from Japanese 80's electro outfit Yellow Magic Orchestra and Jessy’s breathless, pitched vocals are reminiscent of YMO collaborator Miharu Koshi.

Moreover, in contrast to her first album, Lanza wanted to express in her new songs, the nervousness and restlessness that she tried to calm in her earlier works. Some songs where we can feel it are: ‘VV Violence’, ‘Never Enough’, ‘OhNo’ or ‘It Means I Love You’.

Now, thanks to her new tour Jessy Lanza visits several cities in Europe. One of them is Hasselt (Belgium).
The concert will take place on November 8 in the Muziekodroom (Box Bootstraat 9) at 20:00.
Prices are 12 € (presale) and 15€ (box office).

You can find more information about the event at Muziekodroom’s website;
