Autobiographies/Memoirs can be better in a way, because…
- you know your life best.
- speaking from your own first-person perspective can give your life the many details, intricacies and complexities that only you know.
- you can avoid being misrepresented, misunderstood, and misleading.
- provide a more accurate representation of your friends, colleagues, relatives, and acquaintances.
- praise those whom you want to praise and critique those whom you want to critique (hopefully all in a constructive, professional manner).
- you have more pictures of your life that you can choose to include in your book.
- you will not have to jump through as many loops of solicitations and requests to gather the information for your book.
- you can make connections, thematic propositions, relevant contexts, and impactful stories that can all be weaved together as you experienced them, whether chronologically, relationally, or harmonically.
