People understand medicating if you’re visibly falling apart, but if you seem “pretty okay” for the most part, it’s hard to understand why you need any extra help.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have experienced this. While many claim that our society has evolved to the point that we view mental illness as a disease that needs to be treated like any other, it is often viewed and portrayed as a character flaw. At this point in my life I tend to shrug it off.
