Today’s fun adventure in food and drinks is:

Rosé Kombucha
As an original SF native (went to college across the street from the hospital I was actually born in), I generally try to avoid the whole new age crunchy hipster thing, but drinking kombucha is one of those Bay Area stereotypes I probably won’t ever shake.
Kombucha is a Japanese-style fermented tea, therefore it has a very, very low alcohol content. It’s supposed to soothe your belly and have all kinds of probiotics and healthy crap in there. This one seems to be riding the whole rosé/frozé trend that’s been circulating lately.
How to drink it?
Open this over the sink — whenever I get this brand of kombucha, I always forget to do that and it explodes. Which is funny, but not if you don’t want to look like you’re entering a wet t-shirt contest smelling like rosé and fermented tea.
Does it work?
This bottle of kombucha was soooo pleasant after a very busy day. I did feel very relaxed, but I can’t tell if that was from the minuscule alcohol content or just the fact that I wore myself out for the day.
What does it taste like?
Surprisingly, it tastes exactly like you’d expect: like a glass of rosé in fizzy tea form. I found this flavor to be way more smooth and satisfying than some of the others i’ve had (like strawberry and guava). If someone gave me a glass of this and a glass of actual rosé, I might not be able to tell the difference.
Verdict?
This is one of my new favorite flavors now! It is a bit embarrassing that it checks off literally every mark of a product catered to women (pink, rosé flavored, probiotics). Take a sip, add a picture of a woman laughing alone and eating a salad, and life has become a commercial.
