I miss the fashion and effect,
I miss the way they looked perfect,
But I don’t miss the aching pain.
I miss how fancy I would feel
In a pair of dazzling heels,
But I will not wear them again.
My feet are happier in flats,
And loafers can have as much sass,
And so, from heels I will abstain.

The sky is orange, like a sunset at noon. I stand a few inches back from the edge of the cliff, my arms wrapped tightly around myself. Despite the roaring fire below, the wind is chill, slicing through my thin jacket and whipping my skirt around my legs.

In a season 2 episode of the Netflix (originally YouTube) series Cobra Kai, the nerd-turned-bully Hawk attends a party thrown by his ex-girlfriend Moon. At first, Hawk intends to try to win Moon back, but then he tries to pick up a new girl he meets at the party. Just before he is about to ask her out, Moon appears and kisses the new girl passionately, signaling to Hawk and the viewers that she is now in a romantic relationship with this girl.

Sigh. Another sapphic character who is merely a plot device. …
