Case Study: First Portfolio

When creating my first portfolio, I wanted something that I could upload to DreamHost, but my knowledge of creating a portfolio was limited. I took the template created during the Skillcrush Web Designer Blueprint used it as a basis for my site. I tried to create a way that it wasn’t immediately the same.

Since the Skillcrush template was for a static site, it took me approximately eight hours to convert it to a mobile friendly page. The static to mobile conversion was my first time manipulating the HTML and CSS in such a way and I believe it was done as quickly as possible.

My case studies are from the Skillcrush sites I had coded for their Web Designer and Front-End Developer Blueprints. Since I didn’t have any other projects to add to my site, they were the logical additions. I didn’t have full fledged case studies for them, so a short description of the project and what made it different from the other projects were included.

The purpose of the portfolio site was to use it as a basis for a freelancing business. I had seen other freelancing web designer sites and I believe it carried the same mood as the ones I found. However, I do believe it was missing a way for visitors to know I was available for freelancing projects.

First portfolio can be seen on GitHub where it’s hosted.
