Case Study: Second Portfolio

Between my first and second portfolios, I switched my focus from freelancing to finding work at an agency. I re-examined my site and found that I no longer needed the Services section and the Case Studies needed to be converted to a Projects section.

To make my site more job-friendly, I created my own log to combine my love of design and code as well as make it a very limited color scheme. Instead, this turned my site into something very plain. I was aiming for a minimalistic approach, but since I didn’t divide the sections, the site resembled a one <div> project.

I split my Projects section into a Current, Past, and Mini pages even though those case studies, once again, don’t focus on projects that I did for fun.

An addition that I thought was beneficial was the Education section. I found code to include the Treehouse badges earned. It creates a honeycomb effect that I like and it was a aesthetically pleasing design to showcase what I had learned with Treehouse.

I was able to retain the mobile first approach I did with my previous site.

Ultimately, the plain and boring set-up with the lack of attention to projects caused me to redo the site and focus more on what I wanted to bring to an agency.

Second Portfolio site is hosted on GitHub.
