Trinidad 2016
Recently, I had the oppurtunity to travel to the wonderful island of Trinidad! I’ve never been out of the country, so I was excited to be able to do mission work in a new area.
The beginning of my journey starts when I had to get my passport from the post office. This was a very “big girl” thing to do, according to my mom.

When I first brought the idea to my parents about going on a mission trip, they didn’t believe me. I’ve been on mission trips within the states, but nothing this big. Thankfully, the parental units thought I was mature enough to handle myself overseas so the packing and preparing began!
When we first got to the Nashville airport, it was super early so we were able to see the sunrise.

This was taken at the Houston airport. Gotta rep my sister’s Aggie pride. Gig ’em!

After arriving super late to this new country, we got settled in to our rooms. I was a bit nervous for the rest of the week after experiencing customs, but I was in for a pleasant surprise.

We spent alot of time door knocking around the city we were visiting. All the buildings were made of cement with super bright colors on the outside. The picture above is me with one of the sweet boys that attended the church we worked with.

One of my favorite moments from the trip (there were many) was when I had the oppurtunity to co-teach the ladies bible class one morning (pictured above middle). I was excited to teach some of the women and kids from the church about God’s call for us and how we respond to it. I thought it went really well! Also, in the middle of the week we had a huge outreach day at the local community center. My friend and I helped fit people with reading glasses (pictured above far right). We had a constant flow of people for a solid 4 hours. It was an extremely humbling experience!! Also pictured is me drinking from a coconut. Neat.

We went to the beach one morning. It was amazing. Enough said. God’s creation is truly awesome.

After a crazy week of evangelizing and spreading the gospel, we were headed home. I spend everyday thinking back to how life changing Trinidad was. I thought going in, that we would be helping the church to grow, however in the end they had helped me to grow too. God is so good. Until next time!
