May 19, 2017 . Iron Yard Pre-Work Continued.

So last night I had something of a revelation. Now, I don’t know if I’m on the right track or not. Maybe I’m going about this the wrong way. Who knows? In any case, I was struggling more with the ruby, and then I decided I would tackle the Java pre-work, and I found that equally difficult. As I was trying to go to sleep, I remembered something I heard that John Saddington say in one of his training videos. It was something to the effect of “It’s better to be great at one thing, than mediocre at a lot of things.” Being that my background is in graphic design, and the front end engineering makes more sense to me anyway, I decided I would spend the remaining two days before class starts going through the Javascript 30 course that Wes Bos does. Several people had recommended that to me, and I just hadn’t done it yet. I’m just going to power through as many as I can do in the next couple of days, and see what happens. I think the ruby and java will make more sense if I can listen to someone explain it to me. Sometimes I learn better that way. So that’s my gameplan. I have a taste for ruby and java, and I’m just going to try to really have a better hold on javascript once the class starts. Anyway, more on that later.
