Gold Coast superstar Gary Ablett has actually withdrawn from their side this weekend to take part in a ‘Get Gaz Back’ rally in Geelong, not with a hamstring injury.

Sources suggest Ablett desperately wants to take part in the rally, which will see Geelong motorists turn their headlights on during the day in support of his return.

The push is seen as a better alternative for Ablett and the Suns to taking on a motivated, keen-to-boost-their-percentage-against-a-side-they-already-annihilated-in-China Port Adelaide ahead of their finals campaign.

A source close to Ablett said he was incredibly keen.

“Everyone’s going to have their headlights on like normal, but Gaz will be rocking the high beams,” they told The Greenfield Post.

“He’ll cop blinding a few motorists and causing a few traffic accidents on the other side of the road if that’s what it takes to get him to Geelong.”

A source inside Gold Coast, however, shrugged off the report.

“The club assures that this hamstring niggle, the seventh for Gary this season, is as legitimate as the previous six, and the calf injury, and the shoulder injury, and all that other stuff,” they said.

“Promise.”
