Do we have enough data to build an AI to do venture investing? There’s definitely enough data to do that for public markets investing. But I feel like much of the work in VC is still not converted into data yet. And the success group might be too small to produce a meaningful algorithm. We could use it to screen investments, but I’m not sure if we could use it to do an investment. There are quantitive hedge fund that “trades,” but I haven’t heard of one that would use an algorithm to “invest” for longer than a year. I know some firms that use algos to screen stocks and make human judgements. And I think this is what we could pursue. Not too sure about automating the entire process.
