April 4th

Hello everyone, we’ve got a couple of juicy updates for you today as well as a few exciting announcements.

Project Development

Contract Development

First and foremost, contract development has been our top priority over the last few weeks. While our trading contract system is essentially complete, we’ve shifted focus in response to both community feedback and excellent third-party solutions to trading, and we’ve been working on something far larger in scope.

Our current endeavor includes a complete overhaul of our entire ecosystem, with the end goal being a far more robust solution (including a monolithic crafting system) which will scale far better than our current deployments. The purpose of this is to enable rapid, inexpensive scaling, something that will result in an explosion of content (and this is why we’ve abstained from releasing a larger number of crafting recipes thus far). Our RNG Core solution, part of this new system, is complete, and is ready to be utilized not only by Ethercraft but other projects as well. (More on this below.) We will likely do a small-scale roll-out of this system similar to our initial crafting contracts. (As some of you may have witnessed with other projects as of late, failure to plan and execute in a very careful manner can and will result in disaster. We’re doing our best to avoid this, and have managed to avoid all major pitfalls thus far.)

Another thing we’re working on is a series of one-off contracts to enable people to open the Lucky Bag and possibly a select few additional loot items. We’re doing this in response to community feedback—we understand that people are eager to roll their Bags, and we don’t want you to have to wait on us to deliver a full ecosystem upgrade before that can happen. This will be rolled out in a similar fashion to the original crafting recipes, so stay tuned for that.

Chinese Release

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be going forward with our second release of Chinese items this Friday, April 6th, at 10 PM EST (that’s Saturday, 2 AM GMT). This will be confirmed on social media and will be accompanied by Chinese-language marketing materials.

This set will consist largely of Enchanted items and will be available at https://ethercraft.io/#/series/10.

China remains one of our top sources of traffic despite the fact that we’ve done very little in the way of formal marketing, leaving us very hopeful for this coming release! (More on this below.)

Partnerships

We’ve been in talks with a number of potential partners over the last few weeks, and while we’ve got quite a few things in the pipeline that we can’t talk about just yet, we’re pleased to announce two partnerships today:

  • Firstly, we’ll be working with our friends over at ChainMonsters.io to bring you all some really cool content. You can check our their recent article on this here.
  • Secondly, we’re proud to announce a strategic partnership with HashWorld, a blockchain game which launched in February of 2018 and has acquired more than one million users and received millions of dollars in funding from top venture capital firms including DHVC. Our partnership with them is something that will benefit our users as well as provide us with greater Chinese market penetration. We hope you’ll check out their project and see what they have to offer.

You can read more about Hashworld and our collaboration with them, including details about promotional Ethercraft items available only on their platform, in a more comprehensive article we’ll publish in the near future.

Final Notes

It’s no secret that we, along with a number of other projects, have been targeted by clones and “me too” competitors recently, many of whom simply copy-paste code and even assets, spam our communities, etc. While it’s unfortunate, the truth is that this was to be expected from the beginning, and we have no desire to get down in the mud or engage in any hostilities with any other project teams. Our strategy for handling this situation is to simply continue on with development of our own project. We wish other projects the best and we hope that members of our own community will do their due diligence when approaching other blockchain projects.

As always, stay tuned and join us on Discord and Telegram for the latest updates as they happen!
