Mockup screens

Introduction

I recently completed a UI/UX Design course and as part of my training, I was tasked with redesigning Kuda bank's mobile app.

Overview

Kuda bank is a Lagos and London based fintech company that recently launched the beta version of their mobile app. Kuda bank offers its banking services free of charge with no hidden charges and zero maintenance fees.

Objectives

Use customer reviews and users' experiences with the current solution to identify challenges and come up with a solution that addresses the challenges uncovered in the research.

Approach

To ensure the app meets the needs of the target users, the design thinking methodology of the Nielsen-Norman group was adopted for the project.

Outcome

A mobile app where the various complaints by users were addressed by creating a seamless user experience.

Length of Project: 2 weeks

Role

In a team of two, I played the role of the product designer (UI/UX) alongside a product manager.

Research

Apart from perusing the customer reviews on app stores and one on one interviews with users, an online survey was carried out to identify the pain points of users and the fears and misconceptions of prospective users.

Pain points/Results of Research:

  1. Sign up screens being too long (6 pages)
  2. Having to create a new pin every time a user logs in
  3. The data purchase option is hidden and separated from the airtime option
  4. Need for all services to be accessible on one page
  5. A lot of people have no idea of kuda bank or are just hearing for the first time
  6. Fear of the platform not being genuine due to the Nigerian factor

Personas

Information Architecture

User flow

Brainstorming and Ideation

Lo-fi sketches
Wireframes

Visual design

I adopted a simplistic and minimalist design for this project and usability testing was carried out in the prototype.

Conclusion

In the course of carrying out this project, I have been able to understand that the importance of a user-centered design process cannot be overemphasized.

Thanks for your time
