A product that helps me earn on autopilot — I only wish I had bought the lifetime deal earlier!

There are times when you stumble upon products that you know instantly that are actually moving you and your business forward.

For me, that happened when I bought the lifetime deal of Convertbox. And in this Convertbox review, I’ll share my experience and try to help you get the same experience — if Convertbox is right for you, that is (don’t worry — we’ll look at that as well).

Who I am to review Convertbox? Well, I’ve been using it for a while, and I’ve been so excited about the opportunities that I’ve made a course outlining all of my favourite strategies with the tool. It contains all the over-the-shoulder videos you need in order to get started as well as awesome strategies to engage anyone from students and browsers, and how you can earn more through your own products as well as affiliate products.

You can read about the course here — and you can actually score it for free using my link (as well $200 in store credit to buy other courses and business products — you can read more about that towards the end of the article).

What is Convertbox?

So, let’s start at the very beginning. What exactly is Convertbox?

In a nutshell, Convertbox enables you to deliver personalized notifications to your audience in the form of cute popups, whether for collecting emails or promoting products.

However, Convertbox goes way beyond mere functionality.

Most popups are both ugly and annoying. Convertbox is neither.

For starters, its pop-up boxes are not just functional; they seamlessly align with your branding, adding a touch of aesthetic appeal. You can see a number of examples on my own website — for instance here.

But more importantly, you have considerable control over when and to whom these pop-ups appear.

And for me, the real magic with Convertbox lies in its direct communication with your email marketing platform.

The integration with ConvertKit (which I use as my email service provider) was fixed in less than a minute — and now, I can seamlessly add popups to subscribers who have or do not have tags in my system.

That means that — on the same page — three different people would get to see three very different popups.

A person who is not yet a subscriber would see a lead magnet, and be prompted to sign up for my email list. A subscriber who has shown interest in one of my products, would get a special deal for that specific product. And a subscriber who already bought that product, would see a popup for an affiliate product instead.

That way, I can maximize revenue from all three — and all three of them would get content that is interesting and relevant for them. None of them would get an annoying popup for a product that is not interesting.

Cool, right? And what I REALLY love about it is that all this happens without me touching it at all, I could be off playing at the beach while ConvertBox takes care of the customers, offering each one of them the most interesting deal for them — and in the end, that means more revenue for me.

Who is Convertbox NOT right for?

If you have your own website and there are people visiting that website, chances are you will benefit greatly from Convertbox.

However, if you only write on Medium or social media, Convertbox is probably not the right product for you, as you are not able to embed popups on the Medium site or on Pinterest, Facebook etc (since the sites are not your own).

How Convertbox helps you

Consider how Convertbox would help a health coach maximize revenue from three very different potential customers:

Jasmine The Browser: First, imagine Jasmine, who comes to your website as a new browser. She discovered your health coaching site on Pinterest, enjoyed an insightful article, but she is losing interest and is just about to leave. Convertbox detects her exit and triggers a pop-up with a freebie related to her health interest. Intrigued, Jasmine joins your email list, and later starts returning regularly for valuable health insights.

Peter The Follower: Then, imagine Peter, a loyal follower, who joined your email list for a plant-based dessert recipe. Tagged as interested in plant-based nutrition, he recently received a timely pop-up promoting your new recipe ebook with a special discount. Recognizing the value, Peter transforms from a lead magnet user to a paying customer.

Josephine The Customer: And finally, imagine Josephine, who recently purchased your health coaching ebook. She explores an article on sunrise rituals on your website. Convertbox intervenes, presenting her with a pop-up for your comprehensive health coaching e-course, reminding her of a customer discount code. When she remembers the discount and sees the benefits, Josephine eagerly purchases.

In short, Convertbox would show each potential customer the perfect popup for them, based on things like:

  • What tags they have or don’t have in your email marketing platform (this is what I love the most — it offers true magic!)
  • Whether they have previously seen a Convertbox or not
  • How many times they visited the page
  • If they have been to your site before
  • What device they are on
  • Where they are currently based
  • If they have a product from before or not

ConvertBox Integrations

Convertbox integrates seamlessly with lots of tools — here are some of them (cut from inside my own account):

Snapshot from author’s Convertbox account

And I was super-impressed by how easy it was! I am no techie, and when I hear “integrations” and “API”, I always get a little bit sweaty.

But I integrated with Convertkit in less than a minute! I needed two API codes, which were easy to find on my ConvertKit account. All I had to do, was to copy the two codes into Convertbox — and that was it!

Now, all of my tags appear for my Convertboxes, so I can choose who gets to see what. Yay!!

My Convertbox Review

OK, so we’ve covered the use cases, how Convertbox can help you — and the integrations.

It’s not a real review without the pros and cons, right? Let’s dive straight in:

The Pros of Convertbox

It’s SO easy!

I mentioned that I am no techie. In fact, I waited for an extra half year of getting Convertbox because I assumed it would be another tool where I would get stuck for a while learning the user interface.

But I wasn’t stuck for a second! In fact, on the very first day I had Convertbox, I set up 12 popups — all different and helping customers at different stages in their journey. And on the very first night, a customer clicked on an affiliate offer and made a purchase! How’s that for magic?

It increases your revenue.

This is a no-brainer. When potential customers are given interesting offers at the exact right time, you WILL sell more. Convertbox does that, in an non-intrusive and salesy way (as long as you set it up as non-salesy, of course).

It gives you more subscribers.

We all have browsers, who just come wandering in from the world wide web — and normally, would exit my site without leaving a trace. But now, Convertbox politely offers them an attractive lead magnet, which entices them to sign up for my email list so I can nurture them into buyers down the line!

It’s cheap.

I know, I know. $497 is quite a lot of money. I am not saying it is not. But consider this: You stay in business for three years. Each month, Convertbox help you get more subscribers and a higher revenue.

The monthly cost during these three years is less than $14! And if you stay in business for five years, the monthly cost is only a little over eight bucks.

You can use it across multiple websites.

If you have multiple websites, you can easily use Convertbox for up to ten websites for the lifetime price (and for a little extra fee for Pro, for up to 50!).

Design is easily to adjust to your brand

There are lots of popups and overlays to choose from, and I LOVE how easy it is to make them fit my own branding with colours, fonts and my pictures. Not like most other popup tools!

The cons

Price might increase soon.

ThriveCart (which now owns Convertbox) has already announced that they will increase the lifetime price of ThriveCart soon. It is natural to assume that this will happen til Convertbox as well, so it might get more expensive in a not-too-distant future (you lock it in if you get the lifetime deal, though).

Some people think innovation is too slow

I’ve heard that people think innovation is going too slowly with Convertbox. I haven’t really felt this myself, as I was so impressed with the existing features that I am not really looking for new ones.

Convertbox pricing & the lifetime deal — how much does Convertbox cost?

Given the power of this tool, you might be thinking this must be super-expensive.

That’s what I assumed, at least. And before we consider the costs of Convertbox, let’s look at the pricing of some of the competitors:

With Optin Monster’s Pro plan, the price would be $564 for one year — and that only includes three sites (instead of ten in Convertbox). That means that if you are in business for more than ten months, you are saving money comparted to Optin Monster.

Thrive Leads is a lead generation plugin for WordPress (so it only works for WordPress sites — and it is not an option for me as I am on Squarespace). And the annual cost is $599 per year — and you would have to pay again for the second year. Again, you are saving with Convertbox.

The Convertbox Lifetime Deal

Oh, the lifetime deal. There is no sweeter thing than finding a tool that really works, that adds lots of value to my business — and then getting it on a lifetime deal.

I’ve done it before with ThriveCart, ThriveCart Learn Plus and with Countdown Hero. In each instance, I started saving money on monthly fees after only a few months (in the case of Countdown Hero, after only two months — the competitors are super-pricey!).

Right now, the lifetime deal of Convertbox is $497.

It won’t last forever, but as of today, I think it is one of the best deals on the Internet. You can grab it here!

Should you get Convertbox Pro?

A lot of people also wonder if they should get the Convertbox Pro upgrade. If you are a small business and want to use Convertbox for your own business, my simple answer would be no.

Save your money.

The main difference between Convertbox Pro and the standard Convertbox is that you can use it on 50 websites instead of ten.

I am using it for four websites, and I doubt I will ever need it for more than ten. The Pro plan seems more targeted at agencies, though, who can use it across multiple clients.

So if you are buying on behalf of an agency, it can be a great investment. If not, skip it.

Want a free bonus?

I am so excited about Convertbox strategies that I actually made a whole course about it! You can read more about the course here:

And if you are new to Convertbox and use my link to purchase it, I would be happy to give you a generous bonus to say thank you for using my link: I’ll let you into the course for for free!

Yup, that’s true — you’ll get the whole course, with all the strategies, tech demos and lots of Convertbox templates for free! The consists of about two hours of video lessons divided into six modules, covering all the setups and the strategies that can help you. In addition, there are LOTS of plug-and-play popups included, tailored for each strategy that is covered. You can just copy these and customize them for your own business.

In addition, you will get $200 of store credit to spend on any product or course that can help you from my large portfolio of 50+ business assets and 10+ courses. You can read more about the courses here and the products here.

Please reach out to me on christina@passiveincomejourneys.com or contact me via chat on www.passiveincomejourneys.com when you make the purchase, so I can send you the store credit voucher and let you into the course.

Have questions?

Oh, and if you have questions about Convertbox, I would be happy to answer them as well. My email is christina@passiveincomejourneys.com, and you can also easily reach me via chat on my homepage Passive Income Journeys.

PS. This article contains affiliate links to Convertbox. That means that if you buy through the links, I might get a commission — at no extra cost to you, of course. I only recommend products I use myself and love — and think you will love, too (and to be honest, there are not that many products I love enough to recommend).

But I have reviewed a selection of the products that have been most important to my business. You can read about those here:
