After a year of allocated-budgeting, (by 13/04) I finally bought Sony A7–III, the camera that had been on my wishlist since its launch. The last time I used a serious camera (it was Canon 500D, I had it back at 2009) was around 3–4 years ago. Since Instagram took most of my outlet, I just use iPhone camera for convenience. But contents are huge now, and just using iPhone isn’t enough. Okay, I just write these to justify my buying but hey I don’t need to explain myself, to begin with.
Anyway, to get the muscle back, I make a commitment to spend every weekend out from my room and stroll around the city and take pictures using this highly anticipated mirrorless camera. This is the third weekend I’m out.
I got the kit lens (28–70mm) and it’s okay as go-to shots. But I’d love to shoot city/ urban and I need to get new gear that suits my want. So— yesterday after 3 weeks of researching and contemplating what’s a good lens within budget, I bought Samyang 35mm f2.8 lens (according to some redditors on r/SonyAlpha and photographers on youtube, this is the cheapest and good 35mm lens you can get under S$500).
This Saturday (03/05), I took a 4pm train from Farrer Park to Harbour Front, then a bus to Tiong Bahru then to Chinatown. Here are some photos I took along the walk, taken entirely with Samyang 35mm f2.8 on Sony A7-III. All photos are processed on Lightroom.
Thank you for scrolling thru all the photos. The first day trying the new lens and I’m in love already.
Camera: Sony A7-III
Lens: Samyang 35mm f2.8 (Sony FE-Mount).
