I recently wrote about the WHY behind starting NaNoWriMo, but I didn’t explain how the a-ha moment started.

In September, I embarked the journey that is Whole 30. For most people who don’t know Whole 30, it’s an intense reset ( Not a diet) in your digestive system. You can’t have bread, grains, sugar, dairy for 30 days… You know all the things that make life amazing.

Let me say that most folks were NOT excited about my Whole 30 journey. My tribe made fun of me and still are. Called me the guru of the group.🙄

I had to be strict about everything. Boy, did I have sugar withdrawals. The sweet tooth mama in me lost it. The first week, I was EMOtional. Crying for no reasons. Sugar was my drug of choice. After week two things got better.

  1. Better Sleep: With the occasional wake-up from time to time, sleep has been amazing
  2. Less bloated: TMI, but this consumed my life.
  3. Thinking clearer: No sugar, means I’m not getting that unnecessary high
  4. Newfound love for plain coffee

While I was meditating one day, I believe it was day 20 of my Whole 30 I heard this voice that I should write. It just so happened that my girl Danielle Desir of the Thought Card told me about NaNoWriMo, a month ago, but I thought she was crazy. Write a book in a month….

Not entirely, Most folks participate in Preptober which is a full month of planning outlines, character development, etc.

I figured why not move from strict diet to a strict writing process.
