UP Statement on Phishing emails received through UP Mail

The University of the Philippines warns the public of a possible scam received through UP Mail (@up.edu.ph) from an unknown email address to solicit money from unsuspecting individuals.

Please be informed that an email with a subject: University of the Philippines from an unknown sender is identified as phishing and it was designed to steal money. Recipients of this email are instructed to go through a document attached by clicking a link and provide input and account details for releasing of payment. The email also indicates the North Mezzanine, Quezon Hall, University of the Philippines as the sender of message.

This message and its sender are NOT in any way authorized, endorsed, or recommended by the University of the Philippines and its administrative offices.

Everyone is advised to refrain from opening by clicking any link this type of message contains and delete the message immediately. Be more cautious with emails that solicit personal information and coming from unknown senders.
