Cleaning Methods for Aluminium Panel Sheets

--

Aluminium panel sheets supply is increasing day by day and so is the awareness about the product. Metal composite panels offer a wide variety and lucrative features which make them the preferred choice over other traditional construction materials used.

While aluminium panel sheets are low on maintenance, it is recommended to have them cleaned at regular intervals. The frequency with which the cleaning is to be carried out and the choice of suitable cleaning agent depends largely on the position of the building being cleaned and the degree of contamination. Following is a quick chart for reference:

Following is the brief process for cleaning aluminium panel sheets:

Pre-cleaning — In order to remove light soil, it is recommended to do some tests to determine the degree of cleaning required to accomplish the task. Prior to any cleaning application a forceful water rinse from top to down is recommended. When cleaner is applied, physical rubbing with soft sponges or rags fully dipped into a liquid solution is helpful.

Soil Removal — Use water and rinse the panel with moderate pressure to clean the soil. If this doesn’t work well, a concurrent water spray with a sponge should be tried. If soil is adhering, a mild detergent or 5–10% IPA solution will be necessary.

Cleaning Detergents — When a mild detergent or 5–10% IPA is being used, it should be applied using soft sponges/rags. The washing should be done under uniform pressure. The process should be conducted in horizontal motions first followed by vertical motions. After washing with detergent, the surface should be thoroughly rinsed with water and later should be air-dried or wiped with a squeegee or lint-free cloth.

Operation Sequence — Dripping of cleaner to lower portions of the building should be minimized. The cleaning and rinsing operation typically should move from top to bottom. Avoid drips and splashes during cleaning and remove the drip as soon as possible.

Coating Protection — It is very difficult to remove sealant and machine oil once it is hardened. During construction make sure that the protective film is retained for at least 45 days after installation to prevent stains by sealants and machine oil.

Scratch Prevention — Make sure that cleaning sponges or rags are grit-free, to prevent surfaces from scratches. Avoid over-cleaning or excessive rubbing.

These methods will help you enhance the longevity and appeal of your aluminium panel sheets and thus the interiors and exteriors of your building/facade.
